When to call Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute
Call the Triage RN at the first sign of a problem. Problems are easier to manage the earlier they are addressed. The phones are answered 24 hours a day.
- Call us immediately to report an oral temperature of 100.5 or higher (day or night), or if you experience hard shaking chills.
- Report worsening or severe difficult breathing.
- Report chest discomfort.
- Report persistent symptoms of bleeding which include: increased bruising; blood in urine, vomit or stools; dark tarry stools; coughing up blood or bleeding that won’t stop.
- Report nausea or vomiting NOT relieved by anti-nausea medications.
- Report any symptom of severe pain NOT relieved by pain medications.
- Report if you have more than 6 diarrhea stools in 24 hours NOT relieved by anti-diarrhea medications.
- Report new or increasing confusion or altered mental status changes including: double or blurred vision; loss of balance; loss of movement of arms or legs; difficulty speaking; or loss of words.
- Report abnormal swelling in the neck, arms or legs on one side or both.
Call 911 or proceed to your local emergency room if you feel you are experiencing a life-threatening condition or instructed by the Triage RN.
